As a part of The Abingdon Motorsport CAR-nival Weekend (which has raised over £800,000), a large element of the event is based around raising money for good causes and this year in addition to The Friends of Stowford (Charity No 1089136), we raised funds for the direct welfare of those stationed within Dalton Barracks.

We urge you to join us at The Abingdon Motorsport CAR-nival Sprint and make a weekend of it by staying over to help or watch the Sunday Stages and enjoy the social side of things with the beer tent and cabaret on Saturday evening.  Sprints are one of the  greatest forms of serious grass-roots motorsport in the UK and the Abingdon CAR-nival Sprint is considered to be one of the most testing  events in the country.

It’s just you and your machine against the big wide open spaces of Abingdon Airfield. Yes, there’s a need for a decent approved safety helmet, race overalls and accessories but apart from that all you need is a suitable car and a willingness to have fun…

Apart from the Sprint, the CAR-nival weekend also features an Autosolo and Stage Rallying.  It is thought over 1,000 stayed for the weekend,  camping and caravans free of charge.

TONY BEESELEY FASTEST TIME OF THE DAY AND ALL OF THE VARIOUS CLASS WINNERS

BEESLEY BREEZES IN

Abingdon CAR-nival Stalwart Tony Beesley claimed his 4th victory at the Abingdon CAR-nival Sprint, a title he first claimed 17 years earlier!

It was ‘all-change’ for everyone in 2024 as we switched formats from the previous 2 Courses over to the hugely popular Singe Long Course Layout usually seen earlier in the year.

The Essex-based racer Beesley took advantage of his experience at the venue and charged his Jedi Suzuki Mk4 to the Fastest Time of the Day by 1.6 seconds.  2023 winner Simon Wallis (OMS 3000M) tried hard to match the Jedi’s pace but the Suzuki powered pocket-rocket was uncatchable over the 2.1 mile course.

It was a mostly dry day and so the 4 wheel-drive advantage from the Subaru Impreza S11 of rally champion Will Nicholls was negated and he fell by the wayside around midday.

This allowed Alex Thornton to take his Tatuus T014 into 3rd fastest just 0.2 second ahead of the 2022 CAR-nival Sprint winner.
