As a part of The Abingdon Motorsport CAR-nival Weekend (which has raised over £800,000), a large element of the event is based around raising money for good causes and this year in addition to The Friends of Stowford (Charity No 1089136), we raised funds for the direct welfare of those stationed within Dalton Barracks.
AutoSOLOS are a great form of grass-roots motorsport, the Abingdon CAR-nival is considered to be one of the most testing events in the country and attracts competitors from across the UK as it a round of the national BTRDA championships and also a round of the local association of motor clubs championships. Although the event counts for local and national championships it is run under a Motorsport UK Clubman permit for which all you need to compete is a free Motorsport UK Clubman RS licence and a club card.
There’s no need for safety helmets or special clothing and all you need is any road going car – which must be driven to the venue – and a willingness to have fun…
Apart from the Solo, the CAR-nival weekend also features sprinting and stage rallying.
Regs will be available via TimingAppLive app.

The Abingdon Motorsport Carnival, now in its 31st year, is stronger than ever. 2025 saw the 19th version of the AutoSOLO and with each year the event seems to get bigger, better.
Newbury Dolphin Motor Club had the pleasure to run the AutoSOLO at CAR-nival and like a fine wine, produced a vintage year.
The CAR-nival AutoSOLO event counted towards six championships; BTRDA AutoSOLO Championship, BTRDA Allrounders Championship, The B.P.Motor Body Builders & Engineers Ltd CMSG AutoSOLO Championship and the regional ASWMC and ACSMC AutoSOLO Championships and is a popular part of the Abingdon weekend.
Alec Tunbridge in his Caterham 7 retained the Abingdon AutoSOLO trophy, which formed part of the CAR-nival weekend ending well clear of Jamie Yapp’s MX5. There was another MX5 in third spot, this time driven by Liam Rollings. There were several young drivers competing who do not yet hold a road licence. George Thompson was the best of them in his Mini and finished 25th overall in the field of 55 entrants.
