SATURDAY IS SPRINT TIME – Saturday 6th June 2026

The Sprint requires around 30 marshals to keep it all safe and to act as ‘First Responders’ to any incidents.

Everything kicks off on Saturday at 9am with the Sprint Convoy Run

The sprint provides us with a variety of cars, from your everyday road car to single seaters and everything in between with many of them being classic cars thanks to the championships that have chosen the Abingdon CAR-nival to be around of their championships so its a feast for a petrolhead.

At the end of the day, one of the nice things about the sprint is you can ‘stand down’ almost immediately the last car finishes with no clear up to worry about and head to the Hog Roast hosted by one of charity partners, the Friend of Stowford. Please support them, the Abingdon CAR-nival is their main fund raiser.

SUNDAY RALLY TIME:  Sunday 7th June 2026

Experienced marshals and timekeepers are always needed for this,  one of the largest single venue in the UK with 100 cars covering up to 60+ stage miles of super smooth tarmac.

There’s normally 30+ junctions to cover over the 7 stages and Abingdon always has its stories. High-powered WRC and R5 cars mix it with classic Escorts and Peugeots and sometimes there’s even the odd classic.

Experience is not essential as you need to start somewhere so we will ‘buddy’ you with more accomplished marshals to help give you a taste of what it’s all about.

Radio Operators (RALLY ONLY)

Whilst we are reverting to a closed network of handhelds for the Sprint, the CAR-nival Rally always requires a small army of volunteers and one of the most important groups are our worthy band of MS-UK licenced radio operators.

Our Communications Officer (Bob Clark) is always on the lookout for volunteers and would love to hear from anyone volunteering for Saturday.

Helpers and Officials

Although CAR-nival runs under the banner of 3 main motor clubs, it is essentially a group of organisers and friends that all joining together to make it happen. Officials and volunteers travel from as far afield as Cornwall and Carlisle. In other words you don’t have to be a local, or even a member of any particular club to be part of CAR-nival.

If you want to get involved at a higher level, working as a Deputy or Assistant Senior Official then let us know with a quick email to: Event Team
